Dr. Jaco Strydom, well-known Gynaecologist and Infertility Specialist, returns to Bloemfontein and will open his new practice in CityMed Day Hospital on 1 August 2020.

Jaco qualified as a medical practitioner at the University of the Free State (UFS) in 1999. After completion of his internship and community service, he started registrar training at the UFS in Obstetrics & Gynaecology which he completed in 2006 (MMed O&G, cum laude). After spending 4 years in general O&G private practice, he accepted a teaching position at the UFS as senior lecturer and Head of the Unit for Human Reproduction.
During this time he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and obtained the Certificate in Reproductive Medicine (cum laude) from the College of Medicine, South Africa in 2016. Ever since he has been practicing as Infertility and Reproductive Medicine Specialist. He acts as a frequent speaker for Bayer Pharmaceuticals and attended more than 30 international and national conferences and workshops.
Reproductive Medicine includes not only Infertility, but also Gynecological Endocrinology, Recurrent Pregnancy Loss, Endometriosis, Abnormal Uterine Conditions, Menopause and Contraception. Other fields of interest includes chronic pelvic pain and non-surgical management of abnormal uterine bleeding.
An integral part of his expertise includes minimally invasive Gynaecological surgery. He has spent some time at the world-renowned endoscopic training facility at IRCAD, France and has hosted several endoscopic workshops during his stay at the university. He has performed in excess of 3,500 endoscopic procedures since qualifying in 2006. Of these include approximately 100 total laparoscopic hysterectomies and 50 cases of severe rectovaginal endometriosis.
