There isn’t a single theme for “Global Handwashing Day” in 2025, as different organizations use different focuses.
The World Health Organization (WHO) promotes the theme for its World Hand Hygiene Day on May 5th: “It Might Be Gloves. It’s Always Hand Hygiene.”.
Separately, the Global Handwashing Partnership uses the multi-year theme for its October 15th Global Handwashing Day: “Be a Handwashing Hero! Blue is meant to stand for water. Orange represents the energy and freshness of soap and acts as a complement to the other colors. Green acts as a complement to blue, and together they create a global feeling of unity.
