Organ and tissue donor month in South Africa is observed annually throughout August. The month aims to address a critical shortage of organ donors in the country and educate the public on how a single organ donor can save up to seven lives
While South Africa is a world leader in organ transplantation, less than 0.2% of the population is registered as organ donors. The Organ Donor Foundation (ODF) uses this time to encourage open discussions with families and to sign up new donors
You can become a donor by:
- Completing a quick registration form online at the Organ Donor Foundation of South Africa.
- Calling the ODF toll-free helpline directly at 0800 22 66 11
